Who Is the Face Behind Germanious?

“Ich verstehe nur Bahnhof.” – “I only understand train station.”

Wait… what?

While the literal translation of this German expression makes very little sense, the phrase is used to say, “I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about.” Ironically, it perfectly describes the beginning of my own journey into the world of language.

One of my earliest encounters with proofreading happened in primary school when I received my first love letter. The spelling and grammar were so creative that I struggled to understand what it actually said. Naturally, I corrected the mistakes before handing it back. Looking back, it probably wasn’t my finest social moment, but perhaps it was the first sign that language would become my profession.

I was born and raised in a small town in Southern Germany, where my fascination with language continued to grow. As a native German speaker, I’ve always been captivated by the beauty and precision of the German language. That passion eventually led me to teach German as a foreign language, first to people moving to Germany and later to learners from all over the world.

Alongside teaching, I developed my expertise in editing, proofreading, content writing, and SEO. Through working with businesses and students, I discovered that effective communication is about far more than correct grammar. Every text has a purpose, an audience, and a message, and I enjoy helping people express their ideas with clarity, confidence, and authenticity.

Although my academic background is in Spanish as a Romance Language and Intercultural Business Communication, followed by a postgraduate degree in Education Practice, it was my passion for languages that ultimately shaped my career.

Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with hundreds of clients, including businesses and learners from diverse backgrounds, both online and face to face. Helping them achieve their individual goals through German language support has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my work, and I take pride in being a trusted partner in my clients’ success.
